Hah! Just kidding. Little trick to drag all of you PC apologists in, if there are any of those anymore.
The iMac is set up, mostly. I can email, use the internet, work on my blog, etc. I’m freaking out a little bit about the size of the screen. It’s ginormous! That’s gigantic + enormous, if you don’t know any teenagers. Next to the 24″ iMac at Fry’s the 20″ screen looked downright tiny, at the store. On my desk, it’s a whole different matter. It’s huge!!!! I love it.
I can tell it’s going to take me a while to get use to some of the subtle mac differences. I’ve already found a few, like hitting the home key, then shift+end to select a whole line. Why doesn’t that work? I don’t know. Please tell me, if you know. It’s one of my favorite moves! I don’t have any idea what the “home” and “end” keys do on a mac.
Some of the other things I’ve learned are a little bit embarrassing. Like installing Firefox, for instance. I accidentally deleted it before I figured out how to drop it into the “applications” folder. I was really perplexed when it disappeared after I deleted the installer download. Also, it took me forever to figure out how to change the weather widget on the dashboard from Cupertino, CA to Indianapolis.
Maybe there’s a support group for longtime PC users who have come out of the closet as Mac lovers. Well, there should be. I’d join. Meanwhile, I guess I’d better go look for “Macs for Complete Idiots” book. Maybe when I’m done I’ll write a “Macs for PC Bigots” book.

You should get David Pogue’s Missing Manual for OS X. It is huge, but it has all the tricks that don’t fit in that tiny Apple book.
Indianapolis, eh? I graduated from North Central HS there in 1975. Now I work one city over from Cupertino (Lost Gatos).

I’ll check out Pogue’s book.
I drove past North Central today on the way to the gym. They had six or seven state championship banners draped across the front. Apparently they cleaned up in state choir competitions this year, as well as a sport or two.
Today I wish the weather here was more like Cupertino. It’s a good day to live in California!

[...] It may seem stupid to you to like a computer just because of the built-in camera, and frankly it would be. Aside from having the silliest photo software ever, my mac totally rocks. My mac never crashes and hardly ever needs to reboot. It can do everything my PC can do, and everything it does it does better. Yes, switching was sometimes painful. It’s not easy to let go of right clicking and using the home key to go to the start of a line of text. But it’s not like giving up ice cream or something – it’s a heck of a lot easier than that.
