The Mac Switch – Stepping it Up to the Next Level

February 24th, 2007 · No Comments

A few months ago, I came out of the closet as Mac admirer and bought an iMac. Since that time, my family’s affection for the little white beast has grown tremendously. Our friends love it – every time we have company we make self portraits with the computer’s silly little camera & PhotoBooth, the most entertaining photo software ever. Don’t believe me? Let me share one of my favorite self portraits.

This is my son Eli and I, before the surgery to restore color to our faces.

It may seem stupid to you to like a computer just because of the built-in camera, and frankly it would be. Aside from having the silliest photo software ever, my mac totally rocks. My mac never crashes and hardly ever needs to reboot. It can do everything my PC can do, and everything it does it does better. Yes, switching was sometimes painful. It’s not easy to let go of right clicking and using the home key to go to the start of a line of text. But it’s not like giving up ice cream or something – it’s a heck of a lot easier than that.

So… my whole family is switching. By May we will purge our home of PC’s and will have four macs in the house. I might keep a PC around, just in case I need some Windows screen shots, but otherwise… hasta la vista Windows (pun intended).
