Quit Your Day Job

October 14th, 2008 · 9 Comments

That’s what my family and I decided was best, so last Friday I resigned from my position as an IT project manager at Liberty Mutual Agency Markets. My last day is October 31 (kind of a fitting day to leave corporate IT, which I’ve labeled the technology dark side!).

Starting November 3, my moonlighting job will become my full-time job. I’m joining Collaborative Software Initiative as a senior dev, working on TriSano. Yippee!

I’m not sure how this will change the content of TechDarkSide.com. Since I’d pretty much given up on trying to succeed in the dark side about nine months ago, this blog hasn’t really been about that topic lately. But now that my exodus is official it will definitely take a new spin. We’ll see how it goes – I think it will mostly resolve around testing and developing Rails applications for a while.

Welcome to the team Dave. All your hard work is paying off. You have done an incredible job for just a couple hours a week for months working on TriSano – we are excited to see what you can do full time :)

Congrats! Don’t forget those still stuck in the dark side when you know of openings on the other side.

Congratulations David! Though I do not know you personally I am very excited for you nonetheless, particularly that you are going to a company excited enough about you to post complimentary comments on your blog!

    Take care!

Congratulations, Dave. Your theory inspired me so much that I decided to start a blog about my experiences on the “dark side” – http://techfarside.blogspot.com/. I’m calling it the “far side” but the concept is still the same. Good luck and I hope to hear more about the “light side?” or as I would term, the “near side” of technology.
