A couple of issues back, Brian Marick suggested an addendum to the Agile Manifesto in Better Software. This, along with the comments about the need for upfront architecture in Tate’s post The Demise of the Gantt Chart, made me think of something I would add to the Agile Manifesto. In a way, the manifesto and related principles already imply these things, but I think it’s worth saying:
We value good software design and development principles and sound judgment over prescribed processes.
More on this later. I’ve got to get a move on to my day job.
