In windows, it takes me to the start of a line. I found a good reference for "switchers" in one of the sites I linked to above and taped a cheat sheet to the bottom of my monitor. You know, I never knew about the brick & mortar apple stores until you and others mentioned them to me. So I went a few days ago and wow! those stores are cool. The home key takes me to the top of a document. In windows, it takes me to the start of a line. I was basically in your position 3 years ago :) It took me forever to figure out the Apple key was "Cmd".. like, it totally doesn't say that on the key ;-) Some of the keyboard tricks take a while to work out, but they're worth it in the end even if they feel dumb to start with. Cmd + Left / Cmd + Right, etc, all feel better than the alternatives now. Home is Cmd + Left (or Apple + Left).
