Holy Cow – I Can Right Click!!

October 20th, 2006 · 3 Comments

Okay, it’s more of a half-click. Some mac users call it a control click. All I have to do is hold the mouse down without releasing it and voila! same effect as a right click.

Here are some cool resources for other switchers like me. Thanks to G. for sending them to me.

I still don’t have a clue how to make the home button work.

Home is Cmd + Left (or Apple + Left).

I was basically in your position 3 years ago :) It took me forever to figure out the Apple key was “Cmd”.. like, it totally doesn’t say that on the key ;-)

Some of the keyboard tricks take a while to work out, but they’re worth it in the end even if they feel dumb to start with. Cmd + Left / Cmd + Right, etc, all feel better than the alternatives now.

    David:

Perhaps I am misinterpreting your question … but have you tried the Home key while in Safari, for instance? The page will scroll to the top (home) position. In media editing programs such as Final Cut, the Home key takes you to the start of the timeline. The Home and End keys have many uses.

The “Mac 101″ web sites you mention are good ones. Another excellent resource is the free classes that are offered at Apple Stores.

The home key takes me to the top of a document. In windows, it takes me to the start of a line. I found a good reference for “switchers” in one of the sites I linked to above and taped a cheat sheet to the bottom of my monitor.

You know, I never knew about the brick & mortar apple stores until you and others mentioned them to me. So I went a few days ago and wow! those stores are cool.
